Cavs hang on to Powe

05/18/2010 - Cleveland, OH (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Cleveland Cavaliers exercised their team option on forward Leon Powe, general manager Danny Ferry announced Tuesday.

Details of the contract were not disclosed.

The Cavaliers signed Powe as a free agent this past offseason despite the California product suffering a torn ACL and meniscus in his left knee in the first round of the playoffs while he was with the Celtics.

Powe came back and played 20 regular season games with the Cavs and averaged 4.0 points and 3.1 rebounds. The 26-year-old played a total of three postseason minutes for Cleveland.

"Leon has worked hard to rehab and get himself back on the court this past season. Now he has a full summer to continue working, play more basketball and come back to start next season better than ever," said Ferry.

Powe, a member of Boston's 2008 championship team, has career averages of 6.3 points and 4.1 rebounds in 209 games, 189 coming with the Celtics.
